Entering foods

After selecting "Click to add item" from the Foods view, or after tapping on an existing food entry in Foods view, you will be taken to the food entry screen.  The middle section of the screen, in white, is labeled "Current entry".  To enter a food, or change a previously selected food, begin by selecting a food group from the food group drop down.  Selecting a food group will then fill the "Food" drop down list with the choices available in that food group.  At this point you can select a food from the drop down list, or you can further limit the list by using the "Limit list to foods containing" box.  For example, if you wished to only see foods that contain the word "beans", you would type "beans" in the box and tap "Go!".  Now, the food drop down list will only show items that contain the word "beans."  Once a food is selected, you should then enter your number of servings.  For a partial serving, use the pop up keyboard on your Pocket PC and enter a decimal.  For example, a half of a serving would be entered "0.5".

To enter another food without leaving this screen, just tap the "down" arrow at the bottom of the screen.  This will move the "Current Entry" food up to the "Prior Entry" position (the yellow area at the top) and allow you to enter another food.  If you were editing a food, the down arrow would allow you to edit the next food in the list.  The up arrow will take you to the prior food for editing.  In addition to the up and down arrows, the buttons at the bottom perform the following functions:

bulletDelete the current food entry
bulletAdd a new food
bulletCancel
bulletOK

If you wish to add your own foods to the list, or edit an existing food in the list, from this screen, choose "Lists" and "Food List".  This will bring up the following screen:

To enter a new food, just select a food group for your food, type the name of your food in the "Food" box, and enter a serving size, number of calories, grams of protein, carbohydrate, and fat.  To enter another food, click the "Add New" icon at the bottom.  To delete the food item you are currently viewing, choose the "Delete" icon.  To edit an existing food, select the food from the food drop down list, and change the serving size, calories, etc., to the values you would like.  When you are finished, tap OK at the top right.

Aerobic workouts

Fill in the fields here as you see fit; you can enter notes for your workout by tapping on the notes tab.  You can also indicate whether the workout is a "Planned" or "Completed" workout.

Strength workouts

Fill in the strength fields of your choice.  To change the choices available in the "Body Part" drop down list, choose "Lists" and "Body Part List" from the menu at the bottom.  You can enter your sets individually, or from a template.  To enter sets of exercises individually, tap "Click to add item".  This will bring up the strength entry page.

This screen functions much like the food entry page.  Begin by selecting a body part.  This will fill the "Exercise" drop down with the exercises available for that body part.  To change what exercises are shown for each body part, choose "Lists" and "Exercise List" from the menu at the bottom.  You can continue entering exercises by hitting the down arrow after you fill in your set. If you need to move back up to make a change, use the up arrow.  When you are done, click "OK" or choose the green check icon at the bottom.  There are also icons at the bottom which allow you to add a new set, or delete the current set.

An easy way to enter your sets is to use the "Templates".  You can access this by clicking on the "Templates" menu at the bottom of the Strength view screen.  Mobile Coach comes with templates for some different exercise routines, and the bottom half shows recently performed routines.   Select the template you want and click "OK", and your sets will be filled in from the template or prior workout!  You can add your own routines to the Templates section as well by choosing "Templates" and "Save As Template" when you are viewing a workout that you would like to keep as a template.
