Q. What are the differences between BioBody and the new Mobile Coach software?

A. First, if you are a registered user of BioBody and want to switch to Mobile Coach, you can do that for free.  See this page for more information.  Mobile Coach is different from BioBody in several ways.  Here is a comparison chart of some of the major differences:

  Mobile Coach BioBody
Food section Uses a database of over 3,000 foods.  Counts grams of protein, carbohydrate, and fat, and displays a pie graph of the distribution. Logs foods as "Protein", "Carbohydrate", "Vegetable", or "Supplements".  Fits well with the "Body for Life" way of eating, but does not count calories or grams of protein, carbohydrate, or fat.
User Interface Calendar style interface.  Includes drag and drop, and tap and hold features. Tabbed interface
Exercise entry More flexibility to add multiple exercises on the same day, and perform many different exercises per body part or routine. Maximum of three aerobic workouts can be entered per any one day.  Limit of 12 sets per body part for each routine, and there are 12 different body parts you can use, for a maximum of 144 sets per day.
Templates Uses templates that can rapidly call up a recent or frequently used workout routine, and fill it in with the tap of a stylus. Can fill in a workout based on your last workout, but does not have the "templates" feature.
Metabolic rate calculations Included Not included
Training Plans Includes training plans for Marathon, 5k run, 10k run, Century bike ride, and Body for Life programs. No training plans included.
Measurements Separate measurements entry screen tracks 17 areas. Integrated with food screen and tracks 14 areas.
Backup The desktop version can provide a "backup" as you can sync with the desktop and have a copy of your data on both the desktop and device. Backup is performed on the device, no automatic backup.
Multi User Edition available Yes, multiple users are supported in the standard release of Mobile Coach. Multi user "Personal Trainer Edition" is available.
Desktop version available Yes No

Overall we feel that most users will choose the Mobile Coach software over BioBody, but that those following the Body For Life program may wish to use BioBody as it fits the logging of food more closely.  If you are not sure which program is right for you, try them both!

Note: BioBody data cannot be imported into Mobile Coach, and Mobile Coach data can't be imported into BioBody.  They use a different format of data.
